Natural Spaces provides an online data download facility giving access to a wide range of datasets including protected areas, habitats and species, landscape, open space and access. A simple one-off registration gives you instant access to data and provides you with a personal bookshelf showing all datasets downloaded along with details of any updates since your last visit.
Data is available as ESRI Shapefiles or the OGC standard formats GML and KML. (Google Earth KML files can be viewed using Google Earth, a Click here for a free download from Google.)
Should you wish to use our data professionally please download the Shapefile or Geographic Markup Language datasets for use in a Geographical Information System such as ESRI ArcGIS or Pitney Bowes Mapinfo.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE!
As part of recent maintenance work, we have become aware of an issue that may have affected a small number of our datasets. Where data has been clipped to Unitary Authority Boundaries, some polygons may have been omitted from the Protected Areas data. To ensure you have the correct version, we recommend that you replace any Protected Area data clipped to Unitary Authority Boundaries with the national data sets available.
