How to use SiteLink

The Interactive Mapping part of this site requires the Adobe Flash Player. Get Flash Searching for your Land Farm Code Numbers and Field IDs You can enter your Farm Code into the relevant box on the left of the map. Click the Search button (or use the return key) and wait. The map will then zoom into the relevant location at an appropriate scale. You can do the same with a Field ID in the Field Identifier search box. Placenames, Post codes and Grid references There are also Search boxes for Placenames, Post codes and Grid References. For example, type in Mains of Park in the 'Place' box, press Search or the return key and wait. The website searches for the name and will present a number of results. Click on to the result you are interested in (e.g. Mains of Parkhill, Angus) and wait. The map will then zoom into an appropriate scale. To search for a particular postcode, enter a postcode or part of a postcode into the relevant search box. To search for a grid reference, use the OS Grid Reference format, eg.NH123456. Once you have located an area of interest, click the 'Protected Areas' tab and designated sites in the area will be displayed. If you see the text 'Protected Areas(Zoom in to make data available)' you will need to zoom further in to the map to display the sites information. Using the map You can use the buttons at the upper right of the map to zoom in, zoom out or pan the map to a new area. The Identify button can be used to find out information about designated sites - hold your cursor over each button to find out what they do. Searching for Designated Sites When you zoom in on your area of interest, you can see if there are designated sites around you. The sites show up as shaded, coloured areas on the map. The map layers are activated at a scale less than 1:500,000 and the legend can help you identify the types of site (e.g. SSSI, National Scenic Area). Getting Designated Site information If you want to know more about a designated site, click onto the Identify button and then click on a shaded area of the map. A box will appear with the option to 'View more details' for each designation at the location you clicked. Click the blue question mark icon and you can get all the electronic information available on that designated site.
